The "LÍNGUA SOLTA" Cycle of Dialogues aims to stimulate critical thinking and promote cultural and artistic literacy through meetings between creators, artistic structures, researchers and the community. In this context, the talk ‘Epistemology of Art in Deconstruction: between the objective and the subjective’ is proposed as a space for reflection on ways of knowing and experiencing art.
What does it mean to know a work of art? What are the epistemological foundations of aesthetic enjoyment? To what extent is it possible to objectify the subjective experience of works of art? What cognitive processes are involved in interacting with a work of art?
This meeting aims to question the objectification of art in contrast to its dimension of enabling the creation of new fields of interaction and knowledge. It also aims to discuss how the processes of artistic fruition mobilise cognitive structures and conceptual repertoires in the relationship with the work, in a dynamic and unrepeatable way.
By placing the objective and subjective dimensions of art in tension, this talk invites us to rethink the ways in which we perceive, understand and attribute value to the artistic phenomenon - as an instance of knowledge that is situated, sensitive and under permanent construction.
