Is an experimental intervention action that Rita Vilhena is guiding and exploring in public spaces. The inspiration of this project started like a dance score and since then she has been fascinated with the experience of moving backwards. During the creation of Emergency Plan – a group piece she premiered in 2015, she explored this action further in the studio and repeated the idea of durational walk with the performers at the cost beach in Portugal and in The Netherlands. She took this performance action to dance and theater festivals and it was a success. Groups up to sixty people participating and random people joining spontaneity for a moment or two during the journey.
This concept is traveling in different contexts, cities and countries to experiment the action of walking backwards.
What happens when we reverse the habit of a single walk? What happens to the emotional and physical body when we walk for an hour backwards? What is the response of this choreography in a public space?
